My Rating: 4 1/2 Strawberry Mentos

Seventeen-year-old Cassie Hobbes has a gift for profiling people. Her talent has landed her a spot in an elite FBI program for teens with innate crime-solving abilities, and into some harrowing situations. After barely escaping a confrontation with an unbalanced killer obsessed with her mother’s murder, Cassie hopes she and the rest of the team can stick to solving cold cases from a distance.

But when victims of a brutal new serial killer start turning up, the Naturals are pulled into an active case that strikes too close to home: the killer is a perfect copycat of Dean’s incarcerated father—a man he’d do anything to forget. Forced deeper into a murderer’s psyche than ever before, will the Naturals be able to outsmart the enigmatic killer’s brutal mind games before this copycat twists them into his web for good?

With her trademark wit, brilliant plotting, and twists that no one will see coming, Jennifer Lynn Barnes will keep readers on the edge of their seats (and looking over their shoulders) as they race through the pages of this thrilling novel.

I have so much to say!!! I don’t even know where to start. The book kind of started out on a good note, joking and laughing. It is a good start to a wild but fantastic book. My favorite pages have to be seven to ten. Asking me what my favorite part is like asking me not to breathe. Those pages were a great into of the bound between the five of them. Watch out! They are back! I don’t think I mentioned this in my first review, but I love how they live in a town called Quantico, Virginia. I was curious if it is a real city, so I looked it up. It is! Now it is on my bucket list to visit! I am weird like that, don’t judge me… My overall rating of this book is 4.5/5! I love it with all my heart! I am working in the third book right now. I don’t want it to stop!!! This next paragraph is going to be thoughts I jotted down while I read. The next paragraph includes spoilers, BEWARE!!!!

Let’s be clear.. I don’t like Agent Sterling! It might be because she brings back the memories and feeling you get from the first book. The feeling of Agent Locke. It also might be because of the comment she made on page 21. I just read some more and no wonder why I don’t like her, she is the daughter of someone special. She has the I’m privileged tone (you know what I mean). She is getting on my nerves! The snarky comments she is making. I am only on chapter five and I know there are more coming. I just got to chapter eight and I am stunned, shocked, and confused. Is it Deans dad killing or is it a copycat? I have no clue and that’s what I like. She has you questioning everything until the last second. To be honest I am a little lost. I am falling more and more in love with Dean! He is sweet, mysterious, and hot! The bond between Cassie and Dean is like no other. This book has more details than the other. I definitely recommend reading this book to kind of summarize the first a little better. I knew what was coming on page one hundred and forty. I won’t say I am excited, but it will be interesting and a little stressful. I had my suspicions earlier about Dean and Agent Sterling. Page one hundred and fifty five confirmed it. I am starting to like her more and more. I feel bad for her and I can see now why she is who she is. Everything just got juicy! I just came to a realization… Everything is connected!!! Briggs, Agent Sterling, her father, Scarlett, Judd, and the rest of them. They are all connected in more ways than one. That’s it! I am going to leave the rest for you. I don’t want to spoil the best part!

Something Unique:
I just recently watched Descendants Two, and I think Harry Hook (Thomas Doherty) would be amazing as Dean or Michael. The way he plays Harry Hook can work for both. I am in love! I mean his accent is amazing and real! Like WHAT…. How is that even possible?!?!? I literally am crushing so hard right now!

The Naturals Review

Pages: 308 pages
Release Date: November 5th 2013

My Rating:   Five Reese’s Big Cup Peanut Butter Lovers Cup

Seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell who you are and what you want. But it’s not a skill that she’s ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI comes knocking: they’ve begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie.

What Cassie doesn’t realize is that there’s more at risk than a few unsolved homicides-especially when she’s sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. Sarcastic, privileged Michael has a knack for reading emotions, which he uses to get inside Cassie’s head-and under her skin. Brooding Dean shares Cassie’s gift for profiling, but keeps her at arm’s length.

Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms closer than Cassie could ever have imagined. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all their gifts to survive.

This is a YA book and it is about profiling and the FBI. I didn’t think this book could get any better. Well, it did! It has a perfect mix of everything I could ever ask for. Plot twists, a love triangle, and all the strange things that happen when five “naturals” live under the same roof. You have Cassie, the new profiler. She isn’t any rookie when it comes to analyzing people. She is new to the program but she already fits in just fine. Then you have the girl who can detect any lies. Lia can also tell lies very well. She is a sneaky one! You have Sloane who is great with math and also facts. She can tell you how long it takes to drain a body of blood or how long a certain bullet can travel. Wow, that just got gruesome. Let me just tell you that if you don’t like that this book isn’t for you. Next is Michael. He is the emotions guy. He can tell how you are feeling without even looking at you. I would not want to be around him. Last but not least is Dean. He is also a profiler and Cassie’s partner. He is mysterious and quiet. He like to be by himself and away from people. I am trying not to give too much away here.

Like I said up above there is a love triangle. I usually don’t like love triangles but it was different this time. You will just have to read it to see what I mean. My favorite pages are ten to thirteen. I won’t say anymore about it other than that is the first glimpse you get of Michael and Cassie. I almost peeked at the end to see how it turns out. Like I said this book is full of plot twists. I am glad though, because it wouldn’t be the same without them. I couldn’t read fast enough! I just wanted to see what happens. Once you read it you won’t blame me. I loved all the small interactions between all the teenagers. I loved the game of truth or dare. That got a little juicy. I want to be apart of that little group. The minute I read the first ten or so pages I was hooked. I didn’t want it to be over. I didn’t know there were more books in the series until I looked it up. It felt like Christmas! I am going to read all her other books because they sound amazing. She is now my favorite author. I don’t know if I had a favorite before, but I do now. I didn’t just rate this book  five Reese’s peanut butter cups. I rated it five Reese’s big cup peanut butter lovers cup. This book is worth more than five stars. LOVED IT!!!!!!

SOMETHING UNIQUE:
In between chapters you get little bits of what the serial killer is thinking. It didn’t make sense at first but when you catch on it makes complete sense. This book is disturbing yet amazing!
